The indie banner's making the move as part of a ramping up of its year-old distribution arm, Yari Film Group Releasing. The label's first release, "The Illusionist," grossed nearly $40 million domestically.
Goldman worked for New Line from 1983 to 1999, rising to the slot of president of marketing and distribution. He oversaw the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise, "The Mask," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "Boogie Nights" and "Shine."
"I've had a fantastic time the past few years consulting and working on some personal projects," Goldman said. "Now it's great to get back into the ring with a company like the Yari Film Group, because I love helping companies grow."
YFG is shooting high school comedy "The Sophomore" with Mischa Barton, Bruce Willis and Reece Thompson. Upcoming releases include "The Accidental Husband," a romantic comedy directed by Griffin Dunne and starring Uma Thurman, Colin Firth and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
