Roth and Dougherty join Kevin Smith, who was unofficially announced as another "Heroes: Origins" writer-director during the recent Comic-Con fest.
NBC has ordered six episodes of "Heroes: Origins," which follows the exploits of characters that have previously not been seen on the "Heroes" mothership. Viewers will eventually vote on which "Heroes: Origins" character will be added to the main series in season three.
"Heroes: Origins" will air in midseason while "Heroes" takes a break, allowing for a more seamless TV season for the franchise, with fewer repeats. Tim Kring is exec producer.
Roth's credits also include "Cabin Fever" and "Hostel: Part II." His development slate includes "The Bad Seed," "Cell" and "Scavenger Hunt."
Dougherty also wrote "X2: X-Men United" and is behind the upcoming feature "Trick 'r Treat."
