History channel sets Asia VOD deal

First video-on-demand service in area

HONG KONG -- JoongAng Broadcasting Corp., which programs and operates the History Channel in South Korea, has inked deals with Korea's Gretech and Hanaro Telecom to launch the net's first video-on-demand services in Asia.

Gretech will offer the channel on its Info  &  Entertainment  selection as part of GOM TV, a broadband video player that reaches 4.5 million users daily. Hanaro will debut the History Channel VOD service on Hana TV, the largest IPTV service in the country with 470,000 subscribers.
