But Lucasfilm and Paramount Pictures are doing their best, doling out info on Indiana Jones 4 like clues on the trail to the lost Ark.
For one, the film's hush-hush title -- "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" -- was unveiled last week by star Shia LaBoeuf not at a press conference but live on MTV's Video Music Awards.
But now that the "Crystal Skull" is out of the bag, one might expect the marketers to be a little more forthcoming, right? Think again.
It seems all things Indy are under tighter wraps than a golden idol. Neither Lucasfilm nor Paramount Pictures would comment on the record about the move.
One Paramount exec who spoke on background says the decision was made by the studio's marketing department because LaBeouf wields a great deal of influence over the MTV demo.
Another source close to the project -- who spoke on condition of anonymity, natch -- jokes, "The show had booked Shia because of his popularity, and it led to this becoming one of the things that happened in Vegas but didn't stay in Vegas."
And don't expect the film's official media kit to divulge any classified info. The press "tool" reads more like Highlights magazine, chockful of word-search puzzles, Indianagrams and a Well of Souls maze.
Perhaps the David Koepp-penned logline is stashed somewhere deep in the kit's trivia quiz.
