Laurie Craig is adapting the Newberry Award-honored series by Beverly Cleary. Story centers on the exploits of rambunctious child protag Ramona Quimby.
Denise DiNovi and Alison Greenspan of DiNovi Pictures are producing.
Allen is also attached to helm "My Mother's Boyfriend," a dark comedy that Chris and Paul Weitz's Depth of Field is producing.
Allen last teamed with Fox 2000 to direct the Emma Roberts starrer "Aquamarine," which is based on a novella by Alice Hoffman.
"My Mother's Boyfriend" centers on an overweight college student who has an affair with her mother's boyfriend and then attempts to bring the couple's upcoming wedding to a halt.
Allen recently sold her first novel, "My 40 Hot Sisters," to New York-based book packaging company Alloy Entertainment, which is developing the book for a 2008 launch.
Her film credits include the award-winning short "Eyeball Eddie."
