Wind promoted to 'Desperate' producer

Veteran staffer will also run Cherry's production co.

Sabrina Wind has inked a deal that ups her to exec producer of "Desperate Housewives."

Promotion of Wind, a nonwriting staffer who's been with the ABC skein since its second season, makes her creator Marc Cherry's right-hand person for day-to-day production matters. Earlier this year, Cherry tapped Bob Daily as his writing partner and exec producer.

"There's no one I trust in show business more than Sabrina Wind," Cherry told Daily Variety. "She's my eyes and ears when I can't be there. She weighs in on everything, from scripts to sets to advertising."

Cherry has worked with Wind on each project he's done since 1991's "Golden Palace." That includes the 2000-01 series adaptation of "Kiss Me Guido" for CBS.

In addition to her role on "DH," Wind serves as head of Cherry's production company. Most recently, she was supervising producer on "DH."

Wind worked as a producer on "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place" from 1998 until 200 and then spent four years on "Reba." She wasn't available when Cherry launched "DH," but joined him in season two.

Season four of "DH" premieres Sept. 30. Cherry said he's lined up several guest stars for the upcoming season, including Sarah Paulson ("Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip"). She'll play Felicity Huffman's sister.

Robert Forster will also pop up, while Shirley Knight and Jesse Metcalfe will reprise past roles, Cherry said.
