After a decadelong career that has seen him move smartly between roles in kidpics ("Kangaroo Jack," "Big Momma's House") and hard-edged drama ("The Shield," "The Departed"), Anderson's now heading to New Orleans as cop Marlin Boulet on Fox's "K-Ville," the first scripted attempt by any broadcast net to take on the Hurricane Katrina catastrophe.
"K-Ville" must find a delicate balance: Provide enough entertainment value to draw ratings but keep true to the spirit of a battered Big Easy in a realistic way that may feel awfully grim. While this challenge doesn't fall squarely on Anderson's shoulders, he's fully aware of the responsibilities involved and hopes the show can revive a city rich in history and culture.
"I applaud Fox for putting a show like 'K-Ville' on the air and having us shoot it in New Orleans, to bring back a sense of hope to the community, bring back jobs and revenue and help in that rebuilding process," he says.
