Wakashe new director for arts

S. Africa Dept. of Arts, Culture finds new head

Thembinkosi Philemon Wakashe has been named director general at the Dept. of Arts and Culture, the government department responsible for funding and developing the arts in South Africa.

The National Film and Video Foundation has had a rocky relationship with the department in recent years, mainly over the funding of local films. Wakashe takes over from Itumeleng Mosala.
