The editor-turned-helmer recently made his directing debut with Lionsgate's romantic comedy "Good Luck Chuck," which opens Sept. 21 and stars Dane Cook and Jessica Alba.
Penned by Bob DeRosa, "Five Killers" centers on a former hitman whose seemingly perfect life is thrown upside down when someone from his past puts a hit out on him.
Christopher Pratt and Chad Marting are producing.
Before "Good Luck Chuck," Helfrich edited such tentpoles as "X-Men: The Last Stand" and the "Rush Hour" films.
DeRosa's credits include Jieho Lee's upcoming multi-arc drama "The Air I Breathe."
