Christine Applegate stars in the new skein as Sam Newly, a high-powered career woman who gets amnesia.
While the new sweeter Sam may not care much for her former bitchy self, she doesn't seem to mind her past fashion choices.
"The new Sam is taking a closet that is high fashion and developing her own style with it," Applegate says. "We are putting a twist on the old Sam's clothes."
During the weekly fittings, Applegate says she is very hands on. "I go through and pick out what I want Sam to wear," she says. "I have final say, which I think is the way it should be because you know the character better than anyone else."
In the show's flashback scenes, "old Sam" often wears fitted Dolce & Gabbana pieces. "The clothes are very couture, very slick," explains costume designer Lori Eskowitz-Carter.
Meanwhile "new Sam's" clothes are softer and lighter. Eskowitz-Carter picked labels like Prada, Balenciaga and Fendi to achieve this look.
With so many great clothes, Applegate's co-stars can't help but eye a few key pieces. "I wore this great Gucci skirt and Jennifer Esposito loved it so much she went and bought it," Applegate says. "Now I can't have it since we can't wear the same thing."
Not that there isn't plenty of fabulous threads to go around. With so many great pieces, it's easy to see that while Sam may struggle to remember her past, her fashion is not something auds will likely forget.
