"The Counterfeiters" screened in competition at this year's Berlinale and went on to win a supporting actor prize for Devid Striesowat the German Film Awards. It is the true story of a disparate group of imprisoned artists, financiers and swindlers secretly assembled in a concentration camp to forge millions of pound and dollar notes to support the German war effort.
Pic was co-produced by Hamburg-based Magnolia Filmproduktion, Studio Babelsberg Motion Pictures and Vienna-based Josef Aichholzer Filmproduktion.
"Gone With the Woman," produced by Monster Films, is based on Erlend Loe's bestseller "Tatt av kvinnen," about a young man who finds his life is overtaken by a strong-minded young woman.
Pic recently opened the Norwegian Film Festival in Haugesund and will have its international premiere at the Toronto Film Festival this month.
The deadline for foreign-language submissions is Oct. 1. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences will announce the nominations on Jan. 22. The Oscar ceremony takes place Feb. 24.
