Pic begins filming Monday in Toronto. Jeffrey Nachmanoff (writer of "The Day After Tomorrow") will direct his own script. Story centers on a former U.S. Special Forces operative who's aiding terrorists, although it's unclear where his loyalties actually lie.
Overture is financing and will distribute domestically. Paramount Vantage will handle international sales and introduce the film to buyers at the Toronto Film Festival.
"Traitor" is produced by David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman, Cheadle and Jeffrey Silver. Exec producers are Ashok Amritraj, Steve Martin, Arlene Gibbs, Adam Shankman and Kay Liberman.
Archie Panjabi, Alyy Kahn and Said Taghmaoui have also joined the cast.
"Traitor" is the sixth film announced by Overture in the past six months. It recently started shooting on "Righteous Kill," starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
