TV4 will join forces with Svensk in producing the $30 million epic, which will be turned into two feature length films and one six-part TV series.
When SvT exited Gunnar Carlsson, its head of drama, said production company Svensk had not come up with the promised material and that the quality of what he had seen was not up to what he had expected.
Jan Guillou, who penned the bestselling "Arn" novels and who previously has been closely associated with TV4, said, "This is much better. TV4 is better at promoting commercial projects than SvT is."
The first of the two "Arn" films will open in Sweden at Christmas and the second one in fall 2008. The TV series will air later.
