ThinkFilm nabs rights to 'Only Child'

March release planned for Luchetti film

Daniele Luchett's 'My Brother is an Only Child' follows siblings caught up in opposing politics.

ThinkFilm has picked up North American rights to "My Brother Is an Only Child," a Cannes selection unspooling in Toronto.

A March release is planned for Daniele Luchetti's pic, which Think Intl. also has been selling around the world since Cannes.

In Italy, the film has racked up a socko $8.5 million. It reunites Luchetti with longtime collaborators Sandro Petraglia and Stefano Rulli, best known as screenwriters of "The Best of Youth."

Set in a small Italian town in the 1960s and '70s, "Brother" tells the story of two brothers who want to change the world in different ways. Manrico (Riccardo Scarmaccio) is a charismatic firebrand who becomes the prime mover in the local Communist Party. Accio (Elio Germano), the younger brother, finds his own contrarian voice by joining the reactionary Fascists. The film becomes one of three notable pics presented by Think in Toronto along with Sidney Lumet's "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" and Paul Schrader's "The Walker."
