The Dubai Film Connection will be run in association with the Cannes Producers Network and will award three projects $15,000 each in development coin.
The winning producers will be invited to attend next year's Cannes Producers Network. The projects must have some connection to the Arab world to be eligible and be at an advanced stage of development.
"The Dubai Film Connection offers a more focused platform that allows us to further our mandate of promoting Arab cinema," said fest's managing director Shivani Pandya.
An international jury will select the winners out of a shortlist of ten. Jerome Paillard, director of Cannes' film mart, will head up the scheme along with Dubai fest organizers.
The Dubai fest also is launching a producers' networking and training course in conjunction with the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs, to offer Arab producers development expertise.
Dubai has been amping up its industry office activities in recent months in an attempt to create a platform for Arab film execs to increase their ties with European and American shingles.
Execs from Unifrance, Hot Docs and Euromed Audiovisuel have been tapped as advisers ahead of the fest's fourth edition, set to unspool Dec. 9-16.
