Relativity buys 'Contractors' spec

Kavanaugh, Tooley will co-produce comedy

Relativity Media has acquired "Contractors," a comic spec script by Bob Fisher and David Hemingson.

Relativity Media's Ryan Kavanaugh and Tucker Tooley will produce with Landscape Entertainment's Bob Cooper. Relativity Media will finance and plans to get the film into production by early next year.

The comedy revolves around two underachieving contractors who build a dream house for a millionaire and his fiancee, one of the builders' ex-girlfriend.

Fisher teamed with Steve Faber to write "Wedding Crashers" and "We're the Millers," the Peter Cattaneo-directed comedy that stars Steve Buscemi and Will Arnett. Fisher and Faber broke up, and Fisher is now writing scripts with longtime friend Hemingson, who created the series "Kitchen Confidential" and just sold an untitled dramedy pilot to ABC and 20th Century Fox.
