GekTV brings Asian shows to U.S.

New platform to be offered via broadband

Asian TV shows will have a new avenue into U.S. homes with next month’s bow of feevee platform GekTV Entertainment via broadband Internet.

Backed by Bernard Soo, prexy of U.S. and Asian video distrib Tai Seng Entertainment, GekTV carries programs in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. It will add Vietnamese- and Cambodian-language shows beginning at year’s end, with Indian and Filipino content to come later.

Initial channels on offer include exclusive broadband carriage of Hong Kong’s Television Broadcasts (TVB), i-Cable News, Fashion TV-Asia and Pearl River Channel. GekTV also carries a Tai Seng channel that preems Asian movies simultaneously with North American DVD release.
