Kinowelt goes local

Outfit founds production unit

Kinowelt is jumping into local-language production, bowing the Neue Kinowelt Filmproduktion (NKF).

The outfit, which effectively closes the gap in the company's current activities (theatrical and home distribution and rights management), is headed by Bertil le Claire, with Boris Schoenfelder and Hermann Florin shouldering actual production duties.

NKF has up to five co-productions planned for 2007, with up to three of its own productions in development slated for 2008, including commissioned TV-movies.
