Tamblyn will play a small-town girl who attempts to escape her past by moving to Chicago. Telepic follows the character as she visits home and is forced to deal with the tragedy she left behind.
Jill Blotevogel ("The Dead Zone") wrote the script, while Jeff Bleckner ("Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story") is set to direct. Brent Shields ("Candles on Bay Street") is exec producer.
"The Russell Girl" will shoot in Toronto starting Sept. 4.
Tamblyn earned raves -- as well as Emmy and Golden Globe noms -- for her role as Joan Girardi in "Joan of Arcadia," which aired for two seasons on the Eye.
This past development season, Tamblyn starred in the pilot "Babylon Fields" for CBS. Show wasn't picked up, but Eye execs were said to be high on it and haven't completely closed the door on it yet.
"The Russell Girl" will air as the second presentation (in February) of the Hallmark Hall of Fame's 57th season. It joins the recently wrapped entry "Pictures of Hollis Woods," starring Sissy Spacek, Alfre Woodard, Judith Ivey and James Tupper.
