Cablevision offers iO digital cable packages in a number of languages, including Russian, Korean and Japanese, providing subscribers with in-language networks from the corresponding countries. For iO Chinese, that will include Mandarin-, Cantonese- and some English-language programming.
"We think it will have broad appeal to our Chinese customers," said Cablevision senior VP of product management John Trierweiler.
All three channels broadcast content in Mandarin, while the Chinese Channel also includes content in Cantonese and CCTV-4 includes English and Cantonese newscasts.
Cablevision is the largest New York-area cable provider with more than 3 million subscribers.
