Estrin steps down from AFI post

Exec VP to leave on Sept. 28

American Film Institute exec VP Jonathan Estrin will step down on Sept. 28 after a three-year stint in order to pursue other opportunities.

He will continue as a consultant for AFI on a number of projects.

"Jonathan Estrin is a first-class person whose commitment and insights were particularly valuable to AFI during a transitional period," said outgoing AFI prexy and CEO Jean Picker Firstenberg.

Estrin helped to set up the AFI Dallas Film Festival, which debuted in March. He also turned the AFI K-12 Screen Education Center into an online resource for public school teachers and students.

Estrin is penning a play for Participant Prods.
