Helmer Tran Anh Hung's English-language psychothriller has added Japan's Takuya Kimura ("2046"), South Korea's Lee Byung-hun ("A Bittersweet Life") and Hong Kong's Shawn Yue Man-lok ("Infernal Affairs").
The $18 million pic concerns a private detective (Hartnett) hired by a high-ranking businessman to search for his missing son in the Far East.
High-def shooting in Hong Kong, where 80% of the film will be filmed, began two weeks ago and is due to wrap in early October, said Chu Chen On, the October Pictures producer who is handling the Hong Kong end.
Summer rainstorms and typhoons have complicated matters.
Cast has already shot in the Philippines for a week and will return to Hollywood after the Hong Kong stint to wrap filming in November.
Pic, due for release next summer, is fully financed through French paybox Canal Plus, the British fund Aramid and several French Sofica funds.
Fernando Sulichin's Paris-based Central Films and Jean Cazes are producing; John Kilik exec produces. International sales are handled by TF1 Intl.
Tran directed festival faves "The Scent of Green Papaya" (1993) and "Vertical Ray of the Sun" (2000).
