Pic, currently shooting in Hungary, stars John Turturro, Nathan Lane, Richard E. Grant and Frances de la Tour in an adaptation of the story that inspired Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker.”
The movie features lyrics by Tim Rice, and draws its music from various different works by Tchaikovsky.
Odyssey’s Louise Goodsill commented, “Andrei is putting together a masterpiece on so many levels; creatively it’s audacious and commercially it’s the perfect holiday season movie.”
Goodsill and her partner Ralph Kamp will be launching the project to buyers at Toronto and then the American Film Market, with the theatrical release scheduled for the end of 2008.
