The duo will announce their first film later this month; that project will have a first-look at Paramount through Peters' deal. Cerenzie and Peters told Daily Variety they plan to develop projects similar to Midway vidgame "Area 51" -- which graphic novelist Grant Morrison is adapting for Par with Peters producing -- as well as specialty films.
"With Michael's experience in modestly budgeted, darker-themed dramas and action thrillers, and his interest in a large library that includes some of the leading graphic novelists, horror, science-fiction and fantasy writers, we control the kind of properties that target today's youth demographic," Peters said.
Peters, through her CFP Prods. banner, produced "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and is developing "The Friday Night Knitting Club" at Universal with Julia Roberts, who's also starring.
Cerenzie, who launched Unity Prods. in 2001, produced "Deuces Wild" and "City of Ghosts," as well as the Sidney Lumet-directed "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead," starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke and Marisa Tomei. "Devil" will premiere at Deauville and at the Master Series in Toronto before release Oct. 17.
Cerenzie is also producing action thriller "Black Water Transit," directed by Tony Kaye and starring Laurence Fishburne. That project's wrapping production in Louisiana next week.
