Spooky cops off to NBC

Network wins rights to supernatural thriller

NBC has won the rights to a supernatural-tinged hour from scribe John Stephens ("The OC") following intense interest from multiple nets.

Peacock has attached a significant penalty to its commitment to the untitled project, which Warner Bros. TV will produce under Stephens' two-script deal at the studio (Daily Variety, April 24). Net confirmed that it had bought the script but declined comment on financial specifics.

Potential skein is a police procedural with a hilariously horrifying twist that follows a team of regular cops dedicated to busting vampires, zombies and other criminal demons.

Stephens was most recently co-exec producer of "The OC," primarily serving as a writer for the show but also directing an episode of the skein's final season. His first big TV gig was on the Warner-produced "Gilmore Girls," on which he worked from 2000-2004, leaving the skein as co-producer.

Stephens is repped by WMA.
