Nerd herd bats '300'

Miller pic brings excitement to Comic-Con

SAN DIEGO -- Comic-Con proved the perfect venue for Warner Home Video to launch the DVD for "300," considering that the thousands of fans who flocked to last year's confab helped the pic go on to conquer $211 million at the domestic box office earlier this year.

Studio took over the city's Petco Park baseball stadium, July 27, to screen the pic for free to 6,000 fans followed by a lavish VIP party held under the bleachers that was themed to resemble the pic's Grecian and Middle Eastern themes. That means guests ogling an Army of ripped Spartan soldiers and gyrating belly dancers while munching on skewers and hummus.

On hand were director Zack Snyder; Frank Miller, who created the graphic novel the film is based on; and guests David Arquette, Paul Reubens and Sean Young.
