ABC hungry for more Wolf

Network signs deal with 'Party of Five' star

ABC is back in business with Scott Wolf, who toplined the net's buzzworthy-but-busted drama series "The Nine" last year.

Alphabet and sibling ABC Studios have inked a talent holding deal with Wolf. Goal is to develop a project built around Wolf or to cast him in one of the net's 2008-09 pilots.

Though one of the best-reviewed newcomers of the 2006-07 season, "The Nine" failed to catch on with auds and was pulled after a handful of segs. (The Alphabet plans to burn off the remaining episodes starting tonight). ABC execs, however, were impressed with Wolf's perf and decided to try again.

Wolf has been a regular smallscreen presence since breaking out in 1994 as Bailey in Fox's "Party of Five." He followed that with a two-season gig on the WB's "Everwood."

After "The Nine" wrapped, Wolf appeared in the Geffen Theater production of Neil LaBute's "Fat Pig." On the feature side, thesp's credits include "White Squall," "Go," "The Evening Star" and "Killing Emmett Young."
