Gary Hamilton and Nigel Odell ("Strange Bedfellows") are producing the pic, which Arclight is financing in association with Film Victoria and the Film Finance Corp. of Australia.
Screenwriter is Everett De Roche, who had also penned the original. Story follows a suburban couple who, in the hopes of repairing their relationship, set out for a long weekend to an isolated beach where they encounter nature's revenge.
Arclight holds worldwide rights for "Long Weekend," set to begin principal photography on Oct. 29 in Wilsons Promontory National Park in Victoria, Australia. It will be the first pic from Arclight's Melbourne production arm, which launched in February.
The original "Long Weekend" was directed by the late Colin Eggleston.
