Dollar figures were not disclosed, but FX will pony up 12% of the pic's domestic box office, with a license-fee cutoff of $20 million if the movie scores like Apatow's current hit "Knocked Up," which has raked in $142.7 million in U.S. theaters for Universal and is still among the top-10 grossers.
Seth Rogen, the star of "Knocked Up," has a featured role in "Superbad" and also co-wrote the original screenplay with Evan Goldberg. Directed by Greg Mottola, pic follows four young men who get into trouble over the summer following high school graduation.
FX gets "Superbad" in November 2009 after it completes its 18-month pay TV window on Starz.
During three separate periods, called carve-outs, in FX's contract, Col will be able to sell some runs of the movie to a broadcast net or another cabler.
