Hudis replaces Rob Thomas, who has departed the show as it undergoes a shift to a slightly more comedic tone.
Hudis joins exec producers Ashton Kutcher, Jason Goldberg, Karey Burke, Gabrielle Allan and Todd Holland.
"Miss/Guided" stars Judy Greer as a woman who returns to her old high school as its guidance counselor.
Hudis' credits include "The Singles Table" and "Cybill." He spent several years on "That '70s Show," working his way up to exec producer.
Twentieth Century Fox TV, ABC Studios and Katalyst Films are behind "Miss/Guided."
