TV One radios Baisden for gig

Network signs DJ for host position

TV One, the cable network aimed at African-American viewers, has signed syndicated radio personality Michael Baisden to host a weekly late-night talk/variety hour.

Slated to kick off in October from Occidental Studios in Los Angeles, "Baisden After Dark" will start with a monologue, followed by a roundtable on one topic, including participation by a live studio audience.

Comedians and musical acts will perform later in the hour. Morris Day will lead the band and serve as Baisden's sidekick. Comedian George Willborn will do a man-on-the-street segment.

FarCor Studios and co-presidents Ralph Farquhar and Dwayne Corbitt will produce the series.

Baisden's afternoon-drive radio show, "Love, Lust & Lies," originates in Washington, D.C., and ABC Radio Networks syndicates it to 54 markets.

TV One reaches 39.2 million cable and satellite households, according to Nielsen.
