Baidu faces the music in China

5fad.com files lawsuit against search engine

BEIJING -- Chinese music website 5fad.com has filed a lawsuit against top Chinese search engine Baidu, saying Baidu posted links to sites that offer free downloads of music it owned.

The website is demanding 100 million yuan ($13.2 million) in compensation and wants the service suspended.

Baidu was cleared late last year of helping users download music illegally in a case brought by some of the world's largest music companies including EMI, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony BMG.
