Developed by episodic gamemaker Kuma Games, the "Kill Point" game will mirror the plot of Spike's series about a hostage negotiation at a bank robbery gone wrong.
Available for free download on Spike's and Kuma's websites, multiplayer game will let users take the role of a cop or robber in settings similar to those used in the show each week.
Spike is hoping the game, which it is fully funding, will both draw some videogame players to the series and keep viewers engaged during the show's run and beyond.
"We wanted to have a cool game to play on the Spike site since people still come and play some old games we have that aren't that good," said Vin Farrell, director of production for Spike Digital Media. "It's even better that it raises awareness for our show."
He added that Spike will keep all eight installments of the game on its website after the first season of "Kill Point" is over in order to continue to generate website traffic and player interest in the show.
Kuma has already made a game for the "Kill Point" pilot but will develop updates each week on a very short time frame after each episode is complete.
Settings will be based on those in the show, but due to the short development time, characters will be generic and not look like those on air.
"We're ready to work quickly because this is a show that lends itself very well to a team-based game," said Kuma CEO Keith Halper.
Kuma previously made an episode vidgame based on History Channel skein "Shootout" and has its own episodic game, "KumaWar," that reflects recent U.S. military battles.
