WIF, GM to award Latina filmmakers

Grants to be handed out in October

Women in Film and General Motors announced Monday the selection and application timetable for the second annual Opening Doors/Abriendo Puertas: The Acceleration Grant for Emerging Latina Filmmakers.

Five recipients will be chosen by a committee consisting of professional filmmakers and industry execs from the Gotham-based chapter of WIF, New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT).

Hosted by NYWIFT from Oct. 15-21, grant will award recipients with a six-day intensive mentoring program, beginning with two days of meetings and seminars with leaders and execs in film and TV as well as industry passes to the Hamptons Intl. Film Fest, running Oct. 17-21.

Applications may be found online at www.nywift.org. Entries must be postmarked no later than Aug. 1.
