Conde Nast folds Jane magazine
Prett's publication launched in 1997

Charles H. Townsend, the company's prexy-CEO, called it "a very difficult decision" to close the print title and its website, Janemag.com. "We worked diligently to make Jane a success. However, we have come to believe that the magazine and website will not fulfill our long-term business expectations."
Launched in September 1997, Jane extended the magazine run of Pratt, who earned a place in publishing lore by founding and editing teen title Sassy while still in her early 20s.
Jane was not her first eponymous venture; she had talkshows on Fox and Lifetime. After departing in 2005, Pratt began hosting a talkshow on Sirius Satellite Radio.
