Wii wipes floor with PS3
Nintendo's game console reigns in June
From May 28 to June 24 Japanese consumers snapped up 270,974 Wii consoles, compared with 41,628 PS3s. Meanwhile, Microsoft's Xbox sold only 17,696 units in the same period.
Launched in Japan on Dec. 2, the Wii has since sold 2.76 million units, while the PS3 has moved 970,270 units since its Nov. 11 bow.
The Wii has been boosted by its innovative controller, which allows players to simulate a wide range of life-like movements on the screen, its popular lineup of games, including the hit "Biohazard" series (known in the U.S. as "Resident Evil") and a price point half that of the PS3, which sells in Japan for about ¥50,000 ($410).
