Collina toasts Schirman's 'Champagne'

'Spy' documentary will be adapted into English

Collina Films has signed writer-director Nadav Schirman to pen an English-language adaptation of his documentary "The Champagne Spy."

The docu, Schirman's debut feature, is set to screen at the Los Angeles Film Festival this weekend. Schirman's also the author of a book about a Jewish Mossad agent who becomes addicted to his covert identity as an ex-Nazi playboy and millionaire horse breeder in Cairo during the 1960s.

Story's told through the son of the secret agent, who was sworn to secrecy at the age of 12 and forced to remain with his mother in Paris.

Film won the Jury Award at DocAviv International Documentary Film Festival in March and four awards this week at the Israeli Documentary Forum. Pic's by July August Films, Tel Aviv and Lichtblick Films.

Collina topper Ulrich Limmer has owned the rights for the "The Champagne Spy" for more than a decade.
