Lancaster ankled her longtime NBC Universal TV Studio (now Universal Media Studios) home earlier this month, and her move to Fox was expected (Daily Variety, June 7).
The exec, who will serve as senior vice president of drama development, replaces recently departed Fox exec Ted Gold. She'll report to Craig Erwich, Fox's exec VP of programming, who made the announcement Wednesday.
Erwich said Lancaster was "bright, fun, and has great taste."
"Laura has an impressive track record as a scripted series development executive," Erwich said. "As she helped to nurture our hit series 'House' (produced by NBC Universal), she formed excellent relationships with several key members of our staff, and we welcome the chance to work with her as one of our own."
As drama topper, Lanscaster will work closely with writers and producers and oversee all administrative matters in regards to drama development.
She most recently served as senior VP of drama development at NBC Universal TV Studio, a title she held since January 2006. Besides "House," her credits include helping develop "Heroes," "Friday Night Lights" and "Psych."
Lancaster first joined the studio in 1999, when it was still known as Studios USA. Her credits also include stints as head of production at Ellen DeGeneres' Crazy Monkey Prods., and development at Chase Rucker Prods.
Earlier in her career, Lancaster worked in the sports department at KTLA and served in public relations with the Los Angeles Clippers.
