Alicia Keys reels in 'Catfish' film

Big Pita, Little Pita hooks Tribeca project

Big Pita, Little Pita Prods. partners Alicia Keys and Jeff Robinson have hooked "Catfish," a script by neophyte scribe Charisse Waugh.

Project was generated through the Tribeca Film Institute's Tribeca All Access, a program designed to foster relationships between film execs and filmmakers from underrepresented communities. "Catfish" was one of 32 projects unveiled during the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year.

Based on a true story, "Catfish" focuses on a strong-willed black woman who stands up to a powerful corporation whose greed devastates her small Mississippi hometown. She spearheads the biggest strike in U.S. history.

"When we created Big Pita, Little Pita we envisioned it as a place to champion voices you don't hear every day," Keys said. "Charisse has written a deeply moving script."

Keys and longtime manager Robinson set up their Gotham-based production company last year, with a first-look deal at Disney.
