The first three books in author P.B. Kerr's fantasy series have sold more than one million copies worldwide. Next book, "The Day of the Djinn Warrior," is due out in September.
Series follows the international adventures of a family of djinn -- or genies -- who pass for human, but have the power to grant wishes.
Jacobson is no stranger to children's stories. When prexy of the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, she oversaw the "Chronicles of Narnia," "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Princess Diaries" franchises.
She inked an overall producing deal with DreamWorks late last year after ankling the Mouse House.
"My kids and I read the first book for fun and fell in love with Phillip Kerr's premise, characters and sense of humor," Jacobson said. "We were all so excited when DreamWorks shared our enthusiasm."
Hall's previous credits include the British television adaptation of "The Wind and the Willows" and "Billy Elliot," for which he received an Oscar nom.
