Nickelodeon has ordered 26 new episodes from exec producers Susan Miller and Fred Seibert of Bolder Media. Starz Media is involved in the show as associate producer.
"Since its launch, Wubbzy has been a hit on both Noggin and Nick Jr., and Wubbzy episodes and games are some of the most popular content on NickJr.com and Noggin.com," said Brown Johnson, exec VP of Nickelodeon Preschool and general manager of Noggin.
The show will soon debut on Discovery Kids Latin America, Cartoon Networks in India and the Philippines, Lativi Media in Indonesia and RaiSat in Italy. "Wubbzy!" is already available on Nick Jr. U.K. and on pubcaster ABC and on Nick in Australia.
The show's list of licensing and merchandising partners already includes Fisher-Price (master toy), Starz Home Entertainment (DVD), Hasbro (games and puzzles), Scholastic (school and retail publishing).
Bolder and Starz Media said Tuesday additional partners have just been signed to coincide with Licensing Expo in New York, including Ty, Jakks Pacific, University Games, Accessory Innovations and Little Kids.
Wubbzy and his two quirky best friends, Widget and Walden, live in Wuzzleburg, where they share adventures that help them discover the world, and work together to resolve problems. Property also features a blog and a weekly podcast called the Wubbcast available through iTunes.
Bolder Media for Boys and Girls is a joint venture formed by producers Miller and Seibert for the development of books, series and movies. Bob Boyle is the creator and exec producer of "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!"
The programming production and distribution company Starz Media is an operating unit of Starz, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Liberty Media Corp.
