First up is the comic pitch "My Samurai," with Matt Lopez to pen the script. Becker will direct, and he will produce with Mandeville partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman.
Story concerns an American who, while on a business trip to Japan, saves the life of a homeless man who claims he's the last in a long line of samurai. The businessman's life is turned upside down when the so-called samurai shows up on his doorstep, pledging eternal service and loyalty.
"It's funny with a lot of heart," Becker told Daily Variety.
He is working on a "Wild Hogs" sequel for the studio and will next direct the Disney comedy "Old Dogs," with John Travolta and Robin Williams. Becker has set up several other directing projects at the studio.
Lopez, a former lawyer, hatched "Bedtime Stories," which will be Adam Sandler's next star vehicle, with "Hairspray" helmer Adam Shankman directing. He's also scripting a remake of "Escape From Witch Mountain."
