The first film from writer-director Joseph Greco, pic will open in Gotham, Boston, Fort Lauderdale and Phoenix on Oct. 12 as part of its platform release.
Inspired by the Greco's childhood, film explores mental illness through the eyes of a child as he learns to cope with his schizophrenic mother.
"Canvas" nabbed audience kudos at Florida's Fort Lauderdale and Sarasota Film Festivals in November and April respectively.
