Columbia makes Kutcher's 'Day'

Actor will produce multi-generational comedy

Columbia scooped up the pitch for "Father's Day" as a potential starring vehicle for Ashton Kutcher, who is producing with Jason Goldberg.

Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson are penning the multi-generational comedy, which falls under the producing team's first-look deal for its shingle, Katalyst Films.

The scribes recently sold "First Kiss" to Warners, which Donald De Line is producing, and are completing a rewrite of "Miss Captivity" for Tea Leoni at Universal. They also sold "Life as We Know It" to Gold Circle.

Kutcher recently appeared in "The Guardian" and "Bobby." He provided lead vocals for Sony Animation's "Open Season."

Deitchman and Robinson are repped by Original Artists and managed by Fuse Entertainment.
