Shooting starts next month in Louisiana with the pic centering on a pampered star who decides to enlist in the Marines to win approval from a producer and a studio who considers her unsuitable for an upcoming military-themed pic. Upon arriving at Camp Pendleton, she realizes she's made a mistake but decides to persist so she won't let her country down.
Pic's been in the works for over five years since Warner Bros acquired April Blair's spec script. As a result, the list of those involved in a producing capacity has reached more than a dozen, led by Millennium's Lerner along with the banner's Boaz Davidson, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short and Simpson's father Joe Simpson.
Also producing are Denise DiNovi, Billy Gerber, George Furla and Randall Emmet Films. JC Spink and Chris Bender are exec producing and Jake Weiner will co-produce.
Simpson starred in "Dukes of Hazzard" and "Employee of the Month" and wrapped earlier this year on Millennium's "Blonde Ambition."
Miner's credits include "Friday the 13th 2," "Friday the 13th 3," "Big Bully" and "Texas Rangers."
