Telepic is an adaptation of Noel Botham book of the same name, which puts forward a Kennedy-style conspiracy theory about the car crash that killed the Princess of Wales and her companion, Dodi Fayed.
Working Title TV is producing. Jennifer Morrison ("House") is set to star in the movie, shooting this summer in Luxembourg and Paris. "Murder" will preem on Lifetime in August in time for the anniversary.
Lifetime Networks entertainment prexy Susanne Daniels noted that a recent BBC poll showed that 31% of British citizens believe Diana's death was not an accident despite the official police investigation that dismissed such speculation.
Morrison will play an American journo who witnesses the accident in Paris and launches her own investigation to find the truth.
Simon Wright ("Tales of the City") will exec produce for Working Title. John Strickland ("Big Love") is directing from a script by Emma Reeves and Reg Gadney.
"This is the first-ever dramatic portrayal of events around the evening of, and immediately after, Diana's tragic death," Wright said.
