Latin Grammys headed to Vegas

Event will be held Nov. 8 at Mandalay Bay

The eighth annual Latin Grammy Awards ceremony is moving to Las Vegas.

Event, broadcast on Univision, will be held Nov. 8 at the Mandalay Bay. Nominations will be announced Aug. 29.

Ceremony has been held in Miami, Los Angeles and New York. Vegas was chosen partially because of its appeal as a travel destination for Hispanics: A recent survey conducted by the Travel Industry Assn. of America noted the gambling mecca was the nation's top destination for Hispanics.

In 2005, the Latin Grammy Awards aired for the first time on Univision -- and entirely in Spanish. Last year's telecast reached 11.3 million viewers. Besides, the Univision Television Network, telecast is shown in more than 100 countries.
