Special will eventually air on CBS, where Conde Nast's "Fashion Rocks" has aired for the past three seasons and will air again in September.
Don Mischer, PGA members Kathleen Kennedy and Bruce Cohen and Conde Nast Media Group president Richard Beckman will executive produce the event.
At least 14 Conde Nast publications also will include a "Movies Rock" supplement in December. Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter will serve as editorial director of the special issue, and Mitch Glazer will serve as editor in chief.
The event and the publication will focus on music's role in shaping the film industry, including, among other topics, looks at rap's growth in features and top directors' musical influences.
"It was important for everyone involved to create a mult-media event that would get people excited about film," Beckman said.
There will be also be a Web site component to "Movies Rock," and negotiations are under way for participating talent.
