Trevor Nunn will direct a new musical adaptation of "Gone With the Wind" at the West End's New London Theater in April.

Produced by Aldo Scrofani of Columbia Artists Theatricals in New York and Colin Ingram in London, the production features music and lyrics by Margaret Martin. Nunn himself has adapted Margaret Mitchell's 1936 Pulitzer Prize winner for the stage.

The helmer is no stranger to the New London Theater. His RSC productions of "King Lear" and "The Seagull" will play there beginning in November, and his production of "Cats" ran there for 21 years.

"Gone With the Wind" has been a musical property before. A Japanese adaptation opened in Tokyo in 1970 under the title "Scarlett," with a score by Harold Rome. Horton Foote adapted that script for a London production in 1972as "Gone With the Wind."

Casting, dates and further information about the production will be announced in the coming months.
