9Live sparks Spanish service

Call-in show to air on 44 stations

By ED MEZA

BERLIN -- ProSiebenSat 1's call-in programming brand 9Live is expanding to Spain with a new live Spanish-language window to broadcast on 44 local stations throughout the country as well as on digital channel Net.TV.

The expansion of 9Live programming, seen in Germany on ProSiebenSat 1's 9Live channel, is part of a deal between the Munich TV company and Spanish media conglom Vocento.

The windows will launch next month from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and again from 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.

9Live will be available to some 12.8 million households.

The 9Live programming for Spain will be produced in Munich as part of a service package for its Spanish partners.

Earlier this year 9Live launched a similar window on Turkish web Euro D.

ProSiebenSat 1 also partners with Singapore-based media company Six-Six-Eight to produce and distribute call-in shows for broadcasters in Southeast Asia and has also launched 9Live formats in 22 Mideast countries.

In Germany, the 24-hour 9Live channel generates strong non-advertising revenue with its focus on interactive programming that relies on dial-up and mobile text business from viewers.
